Roman Day

In 3H, we have learned all about the eagle standards which were carried by legions in the Roman army. The eagle symbolised power and if the legion was defeated, the standard was taken from them and their power was lost.
We made our own eagle standards to represent our terrific teams. They are called the Rioting Reds, the Brilliant Blues, the Growling Greens, the Yellow Youngsters and the On Guard Oranges!

Our Bike Activity Day and Science Week...

We were very lucky on Thursday 18th March - we had a team of people come into our school with various styles of bikes. There were small penny farthings, a micro bike, tandems all sorts of bikes that we would probably never of had the opportunity to ride.  We had a fantastic morning on them!

Monday 22nd April was the start of science week.

Visit to the William Morris Gallery

Year 3 had the opportunity to visit the William Morris Gallery

We learnt about his life and saw his famous prints and designs with a focus on repeated patterns.

We were able to engage in the interactive activities that were available to us - we had a great time!

3H Class Work

In 3H, we have been looking at magnets and springs and conducted dome experiments to see if the size of a magnet affects its strength and which metals are magnetic.

In Literacy, we have been writing our own mummy adventure stories about children called Annie and Jack who get transported to Ancient Egypt.

Also to prepare for our British Museum Trip on the 30th january, we have been looking at mummification, artefacts and Howard Carter.

We are also busy working on our parents assembly on the 6th February - we hope 3H class parents will be able to come along and watch us!

Pirtate Day in Year 2

All of Year 2 recently spent the day dressed as Pirates! We had a swashbuckling time on the high seas exploring desert islands and hunting for Blackbeard's long lost treasure.

We played Pirate games and really enjoyed our adventure. Aha me hearties!

Our trip to the Natural History Museum

Year 1 have just started the exciting topic 'The Land before Time'. We will be learning all about different dinosaurs and comparing the environment they lived in to our environment today! We will also be learning about cavemen and how they lived all those years ago.

On Tuesday 10th May we all went on a coach trip to the Natural History Museum. We had the most amazing day where we saw life size dinosaurs and lots of dinosaur skeletons. There was also a moving T-Rex which growled and roard at us as we walked past!

Here are some photos of the dinosaurs at the museum.

Spring term

We are now in our spring term and our new topic is Animals. We have looked at lots of different animals and their environments. In RF we drew and painted animals that live on farms and in the countryside. We painted the animals first and then we looked at where they live and created habitats using different materials. Here are some photos of us creating our pictures each step of the way.
STEP 1- draw your animal
STEP 2-paint your animal
STEP 3-make your habitat

We have finished our pictures of animals and are now creating animals using clay. We are also learning how to move like animals in P.E which we are really good at.
We play lots of games relating to animals that we can play at home. We play 'Who am I?' and 'Magic Chair'. Ask us and we can tell you how to play.

This week we are using clay to make different animals.
